…Nashville…Medford…

Posted: July 12, 2011 in Uncategorized

Alright, so I’ve spent nearly one month to the date in Nashville, Tennessee and I have most definitely noticed many differences from my hometown, Medford, Oregon.

One big one being weather, in Medford, we had mild winters, not a lot of rain, and very hot and dry summers, not uncommon to be well over 100 for weeks at a time. In Nashville it gets a lot colder in the winter and even snows!! :0 much much more rain and thunderstorms too, although it doesn’t get as hot as medford, it gets much much more humid!!!

Another thing is that Nashville is a big city!! Coming from the rogue valley with 200,000 people to the Nashville area with nearly 2,000,000 million people, I like having more people around though!

This next difference is more opinionated, but the roads here are HORRIBLE! There are pot holes and cracks everywhere, definitely worse than the ones in medford..

The last big difference i’ve noticed so far is the terrain, coming from oregon, “the state of trees”, you would think there would be less trees in Nashville, but NOT AT ALL! I’ve noticed many more trees here than in high desert medford, oregon. Also there are a lot of rolling hills in middle tennessee and there is even the appalachians a few hours east of us, but none of these compare to the 10-20,000 foot mountains on the west coast!

All in all I am loving Nashville, big changes have gone on in our lives as a family, but good very good ones!

San Francisco Part 2

Posted: February 23, 2011 in Uncategorized

Saturday, January 29th:

5:45 AM Get up, shower, get dressed, and do my devotionals. I hate getting up early….

7:00 AM Time for breakfast. San Francisco Bagels and some good coffee and hot cocoa, it was a good start to the day.

8:00 AM We would be taking a long walk up Nob Hill. When we got to the top we stopped and just kind of chilled at a super nice park, after that we sat down in front of Grace Cathedral Church. It was humungous! Our youth pastors Brent and Stu gave two great sermons and we headed back to our Hotel and relaxed for about an hour.

11:00 AM As a group we were going to the civic center to find someone to sit down and eat lunch with, this was one of my favorite activities. Lives were changed.

3:00 PM Time for the prayer walk, we’d go out in groups of five and have designated spots to pray for, even some people off the street joined in with us.

7:30 PM After some amazing pizza and some great hang out time in our hotel rooms we were off for a night of Hot Chocolate ministry. In groups of five we were loaded with thermoses of hot chocolate and plenty of cups, our goal was not to empty the thermos, but to have some great conversations with the homeless. Who can pass up a cup f Hot Cocoa?

San Francisco Missions Trip

Posted: January 20, 2011 in Uncategorized

Nine days, I can’t believe it’s almost here. On January 28th, I will be on a bus at seven AM heading to San Francisco with my youth group. We will spend four days helping out the homeless. Looking at the fact that we are only thirty minutes from California, it doesn’t seem like too long of a trip, but in reality its still about an 8-9 hour trip. We will be arriving at our hotel around 5ish. One of the activities I am looking forward to is the sack lunch ministry. Each of us will prepare a sack lunch for ourselves and one more for any homeless man or woman we find on the street, we will sit and eat lunch with this person. My youth group will leave San Francisco at 2pm on the 31st. This trip is going to be a life changer and prayers would be greatly appreciated!

New Blog…..again.

Posted: January 12, 2011 in kass, KinSpired, new blog, writing

At least every other month I decide that im gonna start writing on my blog again. So, I would write a post one day, get super excited and then never write one again. This process has happened a lot. I thought that the only way to make sure that i keep writing on a blog is to make a new blog…..again. I’ve had up to four different blogs at once, the only successful one I shared was with my sister Kass. It was fun while it lasted, but in a way I got too independent and stopped wanting to share a blog, so I then started a blog called, KinSpired which does not exist anymore. Twenty posts were written on it and none of them were really even worth reading. I stopped blogging for awhile and now I am blogging again, although this one will stay.
